What do we do?
ZiXXo™ provides a free web-based coupon creation, management and
syndication network that enables businesses to reward favorable behavior
by local consumers. In plain English, that means that businesses can
create and manage their coupons with us and we syndicate them out to
local consumers through partner websites.
Why do we do it?
In addition to being otherwise unemployable, we saw a tremendous
opportunity to marry the benefits of the Web and Coupons. Together they
form the chocolate and peanut butter of local advertising, and we’d like
to become the Reese's peanut butter cup of online advertising (with all
due respect to the Hershey corporation).
Think about this. In 1971 there were 20 billion coupons distributed in
the United States. In 1972 Valassis introduced coupons to newspapers and
U.S. coupon distribution grew 10X to 200 billion (today it is about 350
billion). 79% of the U.S. population used coupons last year and over 50%
of the Sunday newspapers are purchased for the coupons. So people love
coupons and clearly if you come up with a better way to distribute them,
people will beat a path to your website. Well, simply put, we created a
better way to distribute coupons. However, we focus on coupons from
local companies, not the consumer packaged goods (CPG) coupons you get
in the Sunday newspaper.
How does this compare to search engine advertising?
The old model of advertising is push. Advertisers and publishers push
their ads to unsuspecting consumers. Search engine advertising is a
pseudo-pull model. The consumer does a search and the contextually
appropriate ads are placed alongside the search results. Coupons are
truly pull based: user’s want to save money, so they search for coupons.
Best of all, through our API, the coupons can be easily integrated into
the content on the page instead of being relegated to the advertising
gutter, which users increasingly ignore. No, we won’t replace search
engine advertising. No, we aren’t keeping anyone at Google up at night.
Why should businesses use coupons?
Coupons are the best way for businesses to encourage consumers to act in
a favorable manner. Businesses can achieve any objective with coupons.
For example, Amazon wanted to grow their average transaction value, so
they offered free shipping if your spend $25 or more at a time. Fast
food places want you to buy more, so they offer a meal deal. A
restaurant might want you to try their food, so they give you a one-time
only coupon for 50% off the second entrée. Coupons are amazingly
powerful. For more detailed information, see our
Coupon Offers to Achieve Any Business Objective.
